2021-01 (Davenport) Diesel Diagnostic Technician - Heavy Trucks

LOCATION: Davenport, IA

JOB SUMMARY:

GGS Information Services, a globally recognized technical publications and engineering services company serving leading manufacturers in transportation, construction, aerospace and agricultural equipment, has an immediate need for experienced Diesel Diagnostic Technicians at our Davenport, IA location to develop and validate diagnostic tools and procedures for both engine and electrical systems in technical service publications department.

This position is primarily responsible for creating fault tracing methods and verify these methods on the vehicle to confirm that measured values, vehicle read-outs, accessibility, etc. correspond.  Also, confirms that the fault tracing content for inclusion in Guided Diagnostics (GD) is verified and ready to release to the workshops.

PRIMARY DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:

  • Experience with diagnostics concepts and familiarity with tools used for calibration and system diagnostics.
  • Confirm that the fault tracing content for inclusion in Guided Diagnostics is verified and ready to release to the workshops.
  • Verify methods on appropriate vehicles to confirm the measured values, vehicle read-outs, accessibility, etc. correspond.
  • Understand the overall system functionality and to troubleshoot a complex powertrain.
  • Maintains a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional, respectful and ethical manner with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Reacts effectively to change and performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the automotive/heavy equipment industry.  College/associate degree preferred, engineering degree is a big plus.
  • Experience with heavy agriculture or construction equipment is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, air brake, and electrical systems a must.
  • Experience with diagnostics concepts and familiarity with tools used for calibration and system diagnostics.
  • Automotive OBD experience.
  • Must be an analytical thinker and able to understand the overall system functionality and to troubleshoot a complex powertrain.
  • Excellent computer-based authoring skills as well as MS Office.
  • Communication skills (written and verbal) extremely important.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
